Shirley M. Coe, 69, of Montezuma, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, in Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, after a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Nick Longworth. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., today (Friday) at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Dean; a son, Randy Coe of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Todd Coe of Cedar Rapids and Kim Coe Meeks of Shellsburg; five sisters, Vivian (John) Plate of Grinnell, Pat (Louis) Mitchell of Melrose, Ann (Ed) Davis of New Sharon, Marge (Lyle) Maudlin of Fairfield, and Judy Bushong of Montezuma; and a brother, Bob (Betty) Simmons of Nashville, Tennesee,
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Teddi Coe; and a grandson, Nathan.
Shirley was born October 10, 1934, the daughter of Lloyd and Helen Brackney Simmons, in New Sharon, Iowa. On March 4, 1951, she was united in marriage to Roy Dean Coe in New Sharon. For 25 years, Shirley worked at Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1988.
