Shirley M. Johnson, 77, of Ely, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, in her home, following an extended illness. There will be no visitation. Private Family Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2005, St. John?s Lutheran Church, Ely, by Rev. Jeffrey Borgwardt. Private Burial: Roger?s Grove Cemetery, Ely. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Julie (Don) Sturgeon, of Ely, Jeff (Sue) Johnson of Marion, Jeannine (Bill) Prince of Southlake, Texas, and Jim (Julie) Johnson of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Sharron, Suzy, and Teddy Sturgeon, Lisa (Dan) Shaw and Danny Johnson, Mike, Katie, and J.J. Prince and Erin and Drew Johnson; a sister, Hazel Block; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted; and two brothers, Calvin and George Storm.
Shirley was born August 18, 1927, the daughter of Sveinn (S.J.) and Hansina Storm, in Berwyn, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Ted Johnson on November 22, 1947. They were married 57 years before his death on February 21, 2005. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Ely. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Shirley cherished her family and the many gatherings with friends and relatives at her home. She was proud of and followed with great interest her family?s activities and accomplishments over the years. Shirley could always be counted on to be there for you. An avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan, she will be greatly missed.
