Shirley Irene Haley, 90, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Reverend Zachary Johnson. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Shirley is survived by her children, Chris Eidemiller of Cedar Rapids, Sharon (Bob) Swehla of Watkins, Al (Berta) Haley of Central City, Jo (Robert) Aldridge of Queen City, Missouri, Fred “George” Haley of Marion and Matt (Beth) Haley of Lancaster, Missouri; grandchildren, Karen Julie, Jamie, Chuck, Charlene, Amy, A.J. Darrel, Barb, Clyde, Mallory, Daniel, Megan and Maddie; 28 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Michelle Daugherty; three infant Nagel great-grandchildren; siblings, John “Jack” Slick, Donald “Dutch” Slick, Darlene Rhines, Wilma Dozark, Nancy Caves and Iona Richards; and son-in-law, Dick Eidemiller.
Shirley was born March 23, 1927, in Winthrop, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Lila (Spangenberg) Slick. She graduated from Lamont High School. On February 14, 1945, she was united in marriage to Frederick C. Haley Sr. Shirley worked at Rockwell Collins and was active in numerous church groups and organizations. She was an avid quilter for her family, loved to dance, sing, and she enjoyed baking cookies and cakes.
