Shirley Bentley, 71, a resident of Living Center East, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Sunday, March 29, 2009. Services: 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Darlene Bentley, Deborah Dufresne, Doug Bentley, Cindy (Joe) Clemons, Mark (Michelle) Bentley and Renita (Doug) Van Dee all of Cedar Rapids; 17 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Patricia) Benesh of Cedar Rapids; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and several family members.
Born February 23, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, Shirley was the daughter of Kenneth and Evelyn Benesh. She worked at Fauzi’s Café and Mikhael’s Restaurant.
Shirley’s joys were crocheting, crossword puzzles, cards, canasta, bingo and most especially her grandchildren.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established c/o Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home.
