Shirley Darlene Becker, of Marion, died Friday, January 2, 2009, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, following a long courageous battle with cancer. Services: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Dr. Robert Kunz. The family will greet friends from 4 ?" 8 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; her children, Jill Cram Egesdal of Cedar Rapids, Laura (Brian) Abney of Cedar Rapids, Michael (Laura) Cram of Urbana, Eric Becker of St. Louis, Missouri, Carol Becker of Durango, Colorado, and John (Lisa) Becker of Rolla, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Matthew & Ryan Egesdal and Alvadore & Jonathan Cram; 2 brothers, Raymond (Ida Mae) Roberts, Jr. of Vinton and Charles (Pam) Brown, Jr. of Marion; a brother-in-law, George (Bonnie) Becker of Des Moines and a sister-in-law, Karen Grinder of Townville, South Carolina; special friends, Joe and Jeanne Dahm, Charles and Hiltrude Cram and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Charles Brown, Sr., a brother, Phillip Roberts, and a brother-in-law, Charles Becker.

Shirley was born March 29, 1939, the daughter of Raymond and Edith (Ray) Roberts, Sr., in Moberly, Missouri. She graduated from Marion High School in 1958. Shirley worked at Rockwell Collins until her retirement in 1995. Shirley married Bob Becker January 10, 1981 at the Marion Christian Church. She was very active with the Marion Alumni association, The Starry Drive Breakfast Club and a member of the Marion Christian Church. Shirley enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, watching wildlife, drawing, and taking photographs. She loved spending time with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Shirley’s name or memorials may be made to the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, IA 52233, in Shirley’s memory.
