Shirlee A. Kopish, 77, of 339 26th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004, in her home, following a long illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2004, at St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church, by Father Tom McDermott. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a Scripture service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Joseph Kopish, Jeffrey (Susan) Kopish, James Kopish, Sharyl (Bill) Goyer, Jack (Rhonda) Kopish, and Susan (Arthur) Weaver, all of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren, Joe D., Jim, Mike, Jason, Elizabeth, Jory, Jennifer, Ann, Charles, Justin, Stephanie, Eric, William, Alexia and Sydney; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph; and three brothers, Eugene, Robert and John Bockert.
Shirlee was born November 3, 1926, the daughter of Raymond and Alta (Nimms) Bockert, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. On March 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Joseph Kopish, in Fort Dodge. He died April 29, 1999. A resident of Cedar Rapids since 1971, Shirlee was a homemaker who loved her family, all of nature and her dog, Barney. Shirlee will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a member of St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Shirlee.
