Sheila Kay Streight, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 2, 2016. Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016, and an hour before services on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Larry of Cedar Rapids; children, DeWayne Krizek of Cedar Rapids, Gary Streight of Phoenix, Arizona, and Denise (Bob) Streight Loomis of Knapp, Wisconsin; and grandson, Steven Krizek(Rachel Dennison) of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Woody and Marcia; three brothers, Charles, Steven, and Roger Johnson; and sister, Lorraine “Lori” Ross.
Sheila was born on October 3, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Woodrow and Marcia (Cargin) Johnson. She married Larry Streight on July 19, 1971, in Cedar Rapids. Sheila worked at Weland Labs and Heritage Acres. Sheila enjoyed her cats, camping, puzzles, knitting, crocheting and baking cakes. She loved her family and was the glue that held them together. She loved and cared for everyone and was always laughing. Sheila enjoyed spending time with her neighbors, her adopted mother, Dorothy Conklin and doing genealogy.
The family would like to thank the staff of DaVita Dialysis on Council Street and Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for the excellent care given to Sheila.
