Sheila May Skow, 71, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Service: 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Pastor Rick Gail. Visitation: 4 – 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Skow; children, Scott (Sheri) Grabanski and Sherry Taylor; stepchildren, Jeff Skow, Mike (Marcia) Skow and Kim (Joe) Burg; grandchildren, Tasia, Felicia, Justine, Tiffany, Brock, James, Hannah, Hunter and Nikki; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jayna and Jaysen; brothers, Richard Skeesick and David Skeesick; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Clairene “Reenie” Bolender.
Sheila was born on May 19, 1944, in Clarissa, Minnesota, daughter of Clarence and Wanda (Mastrud) Skeesick. Sheila married Jim Skow on July 15, 1983, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She worked 30 years at Norand/Intermec and most recently retired from Nordstrom. Sheila enjoyed listening to country music, dancing, camping, visiting Branson, her flowers, and doing crafts of all kinds. She especially enjoyed the holidays and spoiling her grandkids.
“Everyone has a friend during each stage of life, but only lucky ones have the same friend in all stages of life”. Thank you Sharon and Bill Bastian for being this friend.
A special thank you to Dr. Woods and staff and the Oncology staff for their care, kindness and smiles. The family would also like to thank the Hospice House of Mercy for not only making Sheila comfortable but also accommodating the family during this difficult time.
