Sharon was born April 8, 1942, in Walker, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Vera Wiltsey. Following graduation at Walker High School, she attended Iowa State Teachers College, which is now University of Northern Iowa. After meeting Gene and getting married, she worked with him at the Walker lumberyard until they began their family in Walker, and then moved to Marion, Iowa, where she lived the rest of her life. She and Gene were married for 51 years prior to his passing.
Sharon loved her family, took great pride in raising her and Gene’s three children, and caring for their family home. Sharon loved to play cards with family and was very generous, frequently giving unique and thoughtful gifts to family and friends. She and Gene also gave generously over the years to Camp Courageous in Monticello, Iowa.
Sharon will be missed greatly by the family that loved her. Her generosity, great sense of humor, and warmth will be remembered by those who knew her. We know that she is now with her beloved husband and experiencing the joy they once had in life.
Sharon is survived by her three sons, Brian (Kris) of Clear Lake, Iowa, Bruce (Christy) of Boise, Idaho, and Brad (Kelly) of Gilbert, Arizona; five grandchildren, Paige (Jon) Grabe, Edward and Joel Schoeberl, and Aiden and Grady Schoeberl; two great-grandchildren, Bennett and Landry Grabe; one brother-in-law, Jerry Schoeberl; two sisters-in-law, Karol Smith and Leanna Mraz; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; parents; her stepmother, Iva; two sisters, Maxine and Evelyn; one grandchild, Quinn; seven brothers-in-law, Harlan Weekly, Chuck Mraz, Chuck Smith, Cletus Schoeberl, Robert Schoeberl, Don Schoeberl, and Dwayne Robison; and five sisters-in-law, Pat Schoeberl, Karen Robison, Charlene Schoeberl, Barb Schoeberl and Grace Schoeberl.
The family extends a special thanks to Debbie and Roger Henderson for their support following Gene’s passing and then Karol Smith and Susan Schminke for their extensive visitation and support of Sharon during the last few years, St. Croix Hospice for their support during these last few months, and Terrace Glen Village staff for their amazing care of Sharon.
