Sharon Reed, 57, of 2160 Edgewood Road NW, died Saturday, January 10, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Tom Carver. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Monday, January 12, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial at a later date: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include her husband, Merle; a son, Brian and wife Julie of Coal Valley, Illinois; a daughter, Heather Zach and husband George of Swisher; her grandchildren, Brett Anne and Keenan Zach and Erin and Colin Reed; three sisters, Joan Warner and husband Mike of Rock Island, Illinois, Pat Jeffords and husband Ben, Donna Gromman and husband Gary, all of Cedar Rapids; her aunt and uncle, Ted and Darlene Schonfeldt of Cedar Rapids; a mother-in-law, Frances Reed of Cedar Rapids, a brother-in-law, Paul Reed of Swisher, a sister-in-law, Mary Hynek of Florence, Arizona; many nieces and nephews and her cat, Chrissy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph William and Lorraine Beatrice (Keenan) Drake; a nephew, Jason Hynek, a father-in-law, Donald A. Reed and 2 beloved cats, Morris and James.
Sharon was born October 21, 1946, in Cedar Rapids and on June 3, 1967, she married Merle Reed. She enjoyed her grandchildren who referred to her as "Memaw.?
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
