Seldon R. Beckett
March 2, 1929 — August 18, 2008
Seldon R. Beckett, 79, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Monday August 18, 2008 at Northbrook Manor following an extended illness. Private family graveside services will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery on Friday August 29, 2008.
Survivors include his daughter Terry Lage and husband Patrick of Marion, seven grandchildren and six great-grand children.
Seldon was born March 2, 1929 in West Hamlin, West Virginia, the son of Emmett and Ivy (Pritchard) Beckett. He was a two time veteran of the Korean War. He married Lois Faries on May 19, 1956 in Logan, West Virginia, she died on October 29, 2001.
Seldon was known for his gentle ways and quiet wisdom. He was a generous man with a heart for Jesus Christ, and lived by faith each day. He was a good man, kind husband, tender father, adoring grandpa, and faithful friend. He died with a heart prepared for a glorious eternity.
