Sarah Lynn (Hurst) Matthews, 25, of Anamosa, died Monday, June 27, 2005, in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, from complications of a brain hemorrhage. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by the Rev. John Gossman. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday (June 30) at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, where a Parish Vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Inurnment: 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her husband, Loren of Anamosa; three children, Noah (5), Kaleb (4) and Izabelle (2); her parents; Mike and JoLeah (Berns) Hurst of Marion; two brothers, Jason (Patricia) Hurst of Lindenhurst, Illinois, and Jeremy Hurst of Marion; three sisters, Stacy Hurst and fiancé Shane Zaiger of Cedar Rapids, and Bethany Hurst and Melissa Hurst, both of Marion; maternal grandparents, Jim and Jolane Berns of Marion; paternal grandmother, Jean Hurst of Marion; in-laws, Doug and Peggy Straub of Cedar Rapids; grandmother-in-law, Betty Peoples of Hiawatha; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Sarah was born on November 8, 1979, in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1998. On June 3, 2000, she was united in marriage to Loren Matthews at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Sarah was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

A devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister, Sarah was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

A memorial fund has been established in Sarah?s memory.
