Sarah S. Benson, 49, 1631 Elaine Dr. NW, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 30, 2003, in her home, following a battle with cancer. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald; children, Ronald (Becky) Benson, Jr. and Michelle Bentley, both of Cedar Rapids; her father, Erwin Anderson of Duluth, Minnesota; a brother, Michael (Gwynn) Anderson of St. Cloud, Minnesota; a sister Phyll (Dan) McDonald of Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin; grandsons, Blake Benson and Drew Ricketts and one soon-to-be born grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Benson; her mother, Phyllis Anderson; and her grandparents, Velma and Francis Hoffman and Rachael and O H Anderson.
Sarah was born July 5, 1954, the daughter of Erwin and Phyllis Hoffman Anderson, in Sidney, Montana. On June 10, 1984, she married Ronald Benson in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. For 14 years, Sarah worked for Ohsmans as an office manager. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 0170 of Blairstown and an Auxiliary member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2272. She loved bowling, gardening, her decks and her "rock garden.? Sarah was dearly loved and her memories will be treasured by all of her family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Sarah.
