Sarah “Marie” Alexander, of Marion, died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City. Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2012, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville.
Survivors include one son, Herb (Gloria) Alexander of Middle Amana; three daughters, Callene (Norris) Brashear of Cedar Rapids, Bonnie Pierce of Morley, and Sheila (Jim) Hutton of Vinton; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Irvin (Eileen) Kramer of Dubuque; a sister, Hilda (Jim) DuPont of Sherrill, IA; 2 sisters-in-law, Joyce Kramer of Dubuque and Dorothy Emerson of Cedar Rapids; and very special friends and neighbors, Don and Sharon Wullner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her parents; a granddaughter, Jamie May; 2 brothers, Hugh and Delbert Kramer; a sister, Eleanor Heim; and a sister-in-law, Doris Thurn.
Marie was born the daughter of William and Rose (Coyle) Kramer on December 20, 1923, in Farley, IA. She attended Bernard High School. Marie was united in marriage to Raymond Alexander on February 3, 1943, in Cascade, IA. She worked for Rockwell Collins for 29 years. She was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Marie’s name.
