Sara K. Fischer, 57, of 414 Rockvalley Lane N.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at home. Services: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Dan Kolander. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; daughters, Kathryn Merrifield of West Des Moines and Jacqueline Merrifield of Decorah; sister, Mary (Rodney) Lindell of Darlington, Wisconsin; brother, John (Janet) Fischer of Plymouth, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents.
Born November 30, 1951, and raised in Lewiston, Minnesota, Sara was the daughter of Webster and Marcella (Benike) Fischer. She graduated from Luther College in 1973. On September 27, 1980, she was united in marriage to Charles Merrifield, in Cedar Rapids. She was employed as an accountant for Skogman Homes/Midwest Carpet for over 30 years.
Sara was an active member of First Lutheran Church and volunteered with the libraries and Communion .She was a member of the Iowa Skippers and assisted the Jefferson High School Band and Show Choir. Her greatest love was her family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
