Sara Louise Dudley, 81, of 325 Neta Drive, Marion, died Friday, April 4, 2003, in her home following a short illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, at the Alburnett Christian Church by Pastor Dan Peterson. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday (April 6) at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Survivors include six children, Rose Marie (Jack) Bradley, Dean Dudley, and Esther (Larry )Thomas, all of Marion, Neil (Arlene) Dudley and Edwin (Faye) Dudley, all of Central City, and Marietta Barrios of Marion; a sister, Erdene Smith of Central City; a sister-in-law, Lillian Jeffries of Overland Park, Kansas; twenty-eight grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Eldon; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Sara was born November 9, 1921, on the family farm near Troy Mills, Iowa, to Elza and Blanche Renfer Jeffries. She married Virgil Dean Dudley on January 13, 1943, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He died December 27, 1967. Sara was a homemaker and worked for the Linn County Conservation Department as a dispatcher. Later she worked as a billing clerk at Nash Finch, where she retired in 1990.
Sara was an active member and pianist for many years at the Alburnett Christian Church. She was also a volunteer caregiver to many family members and friends.
She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
