Ruth Wulfekuhle, 96, of Dyersville, Iowa, formerly of Earlville, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Visitation: 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Clifton – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Earlville. Burial: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.
Ruth was born November 24, 1921, in Volga, Iowa, the daughter of Julius and Mary Bell (Duff) Voss. Her mother passed away and she was raised in the Robert Giennap home until they moved to a farm near Manchester. On November 14, 1944, Ruth married Linus Wulfekuhle at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester. Ruth worked for Wellman Produce, was a childcare provider for many families in the area, and cleaned homes until the age of 80. Ruth loved nature, tending to her garden, rides in the country and picnics. She was an avid race fan, cheering on her favorite driver and great-nephew, Mark Schulte.
Ruth enjoyed her time at Oak Crest Manor and was grateful for all they did. The family thanks the staff in all departments for their care and kindness given to her.
Ruth is survived by her children Charlie (Susan) Wulfekuhle of Isanti, Minnesota, Agnes Wulfekuhle of Dyersville, Loras Wulfekuhle of Edgewood, and Helen (Don) Fortmann of Dyersville; five grandchildren, Jenny (Clay) Erickson, Amy Wulfekuhle, Corey Fortmann, Chad (Melissa) Fortmann, and Adam (Ally) Fortmann; five great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Bella Erickson, Anthony and Andrew Fortmann, and Ella and Jovie Fortmann; and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Linus; two infant daughters, Mary and Ann, a sister, Marian (Reynold) Drees; a sister-in-law, Wilma (John) Schulte; and a brother-in-law, Dave (Peg) Wulfekuhle.
