Ruth M. Vaupel, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died, Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Living Center East, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a brother, Thomas Wilford of Arizona; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold; son, Charles; and her siblings, Doris Hoyle, Carl, Charles, and Frank Wilford.
Ruth was born July 16, 1922, the daughter of Floyd and Hazel (Wilson) Wilford, in Maquoketa, Iowa. On April 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Arnold Vaupel. He died in 1966. For 15 years, Ruth worked at MethWick Manor. A member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Center Point, she loved spending time with her great-grandnieces and loved to watch the game show network.
