Ruth J. Sutton, 94, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, January 30, 2023. A private family graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg, Iowa, at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids assisted the family.
Ruth was born November 1, 1928, in Western, Nebraska, the daughter of Walter and Helen (Struckman) Moellenberndt. She was united in marriage to Harold F. Sutton on November 9, 1945, in Marysville, Kansas. Ruth dedicated her life to caring for her children.
Survivors include her children, Pamela Sutton of Shellsburg, James Sutton of Shellsburg, Wesley Sutton of Cedar Rapids, and Debra Theilen of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Doug Uridil, Sarah Sutton, Chris Schwartz, and Rick Sutton; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Helen Moellenberndt; husband, Harold Sutton; and siblings, Roland Moellenberndt, Geraldine Owens and Phyllis Moellenberndt.
