Ruth Marlene (Price) Avis, 86, of Coggon, past into internal rest on Friday, June 6, 2003, at home with family. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Troy Mills Christian Church by Rev. Les Larson. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, rural Troy Mills.
Survivors include her husband, Ray; two sons, Allan and John and their wifes; five granddaughters, Kris, Tammy Ronietta, Nolita and Lisa; two grandsons, Bill and Bruce and their families; two sisters, Florence Auen of Independence and Ann Ellis of Fairfax; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Ruth was born September 5, 1916, to Charles and Bertha (Taylor) Price. She graduated in 1936, from Troy Mills High School. On March 2, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ray Henry Avis of Coggon. They were blessed with three children, Allan Ray, John Henry and Charlotte Alberta. Together working side by side they raised their children and worked their farm in the Coggon/Troy Mills community for over 60 years. For the last year or so of Ray and Ruth?s life together they lived with their granddaughter Nolita and her family in LaPorte City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Charlotte, a great-grandson, David; four sisters; and one brother.
Ruth enjoyed fishing, knitting, crocheting and spending time with family and friends. She was loved by many and will be missed sincerely.
A memorial fund has been established in Ruth?s memory.
