Genevieve Ruth (Van Scoyoc) Pidima, 88, of 481 Ida Drive in Marion, formerly of Victor, died Saturday, July 3, 2004, at her home, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Dan Kolander. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Private Family Graveside Committal: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Victor Memorial Cemetery in Victor, Iowa.
Survivors include daughter, Diane Kristjanson and husband George of Shellsburg; two sons, Steve Pidima and wife Barb of Victor and Stan Pidima of Marion; seven grandchildren, Brian Beauchamp and wife Melanie, Kevin Pidima, Jay Beauchamp and wife Becky, Dawn Risner and husband Paul, Kelsey Pidima, Sherry Kristjanson and Julie Kristjanson; and seven great-grandchildren, Dakotah and Hunter Pidima, Madison Beauchamp, Corey Risner, and Taylor, Jake and Paige Stodola.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and all eleven of her siblings.
Genevieve was born November 20, 1915, the daughter of Jesse and Mary (Zenolik) Van Scoyoc in Luzerne, Iowa. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1934. On March 14, 1938, she married Joe Pidima. They farmed together in the Victor area until his death on September 8, 1973, at the family home. Genevieve was a farm wife for thirty-five years and was a member of First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
Genevieve enjoyed watching the Cubs, Iowa Basketball and Jeff Gordon, reading and embroidery. She enjoyed playing games and spending time with her grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
