Ruth Ann Holecek Macke, 54, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, August 28, 2005, at her home in Houston, Texas, following a long illness. Memorial Services: 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2005, at Faith Lutheran Church in Marion, Iowa, by the Revs. John Albertson and Susan Reihman. The family will greet friends ? hour prior to the services at the church. Inurnment: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, at a later date. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her husband George Macke of Houston, Texas; her mother, Dolores Holecek of Marion; three brothers, Robert J. Holecek, John T. (Robin) Holecek and James A. Holecek, all of Marion; her stepchildren, Kayla and Eric Macke; her in-laws, George and Bea Macke of Arkansas; numerous aunts and uncles; two nieces, Christine and Emily Holecek of Marion; and a soon-to-be great-niece.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert F. Holecek, and a sister, Debra Kay.
Ruth Ann was born the daughter of Robert F. and Dolores McCord Holecek on June 17, 1951, in Cedar Rapids. A graduate of Marion High School in 1969, she received her B.S. degree in nursing from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. Ruth Ann and George Macke were united in marriage on September 29, 2002. She was a nurse at Children?s Hospital of Wisconsin for twenty-five years, and the rest of her career was spent at Texas Children?s Hospital in Houston.
A memorial fund has been established for Children?s Hospital of Wisconsin-Oncology Unit, in memory of Ruth Ann.
