Ruth D. Duran, 80, formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the Illini Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, IL. Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Marion Christian Church, 1050 McGowan Blvd., Marion, IA, by Rev. Brice Hughes. The family will greet friends at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Following the service, a luncheon will be served. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion.

Survivors include her companion, Bill Lake of Colona, IL; children, Al Duran of Henderson, NV, Dave Duran of Henderson, NV, and Colene (Richard) Olsen of Brock, NE; sister, Thelma Sue (Manuel) Eckas of Greely, CO; eight grandchildren, Tracy (Brian) Duran Spak of Washington D.C., Christina (Chris) Duran Millette of Portland, OR, Tamara Duran of Marion, IA, Brandon (Molly) Wade of Carver, MN, Ryan (Jessica) Wade of North Liberty, IA, Jason Duran of Marion, IA, Gretchen (Ryan) Wade Handly of Black River Falls, WI, and Justin Wade of Minneapolis, MN; nine great-grandchildren, Laney, Bryson, and Grady Handly, Will and Nora Wade, Oliver and Sterling Millette, Jack Wade, and Theo Spak; and step-grandchildren, Jessica Olsen of Eldora, IA, and Josh Olsen of Ames, IA. Also surviving are many other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers; one grandson, Keaton Wade; and one great-granddaughter, Addison Wade.

Ruth was born December 16, 1929, in Clarinda, IA, the daughter of Arthur and Roxie (Pearson) Finley. She married Richard Duran September 21, 1946, in Atchison, KS. He died March 24, 1993. Within the last three years, Ruth renewed a relationship with Bill Lake, who was a dear friend since childhood. Ruth had been a nanny for many years and was also a hostess at Brackett House at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon. Ruth was an avid cook and artist. Her entire life was centered around her family and friends.
