Russell M. Roland, 70, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, August 4, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, with a visitation one hour prior. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Russell was born October 2, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Joanne (Haas) Roland. He graduated from Kennedy High School, Class of 1971. Russell obtained his associate degree in graphic arts from Kirkwood Community College. He was united in marriage to Norma June Edmonds on August 8, 1987. Russell worked as a press operator for the Cedar Rapids Gazette. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. Russell enjoyed being a HAM radio operator.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Roland of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Katherine (Jeff) Fraas of Marion, Iowa; siblings, Randy Roland (Rex Smith) of Dallas, Texas, Michelle (Chris) Hoff of Orinda, California, and Marty Roland of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to the family, which will be used to support Russell’s favorite charities.
