Russell W. Iiams, 67, of 3101 Westwood Drive N.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, March 28, 2008, in his home following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Cedar Hills Community Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Leonard Ranson and Rev. Kent Landhuis. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2008, at the church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Nanci; children, Terry (Teresa) Iiams, Stacy Iiams and Dustin Iiams all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jenifer Iiams, Katie Iiams, Megan Iiams and Joshua Iiams; sister; Evelyn Owens of Lorimor, Iowa; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Mary Johnson of Peru, Iowa; brother-in-law, Tom Johnson; sisters-in-law, Darlene (Gene) Miller, Joy (Marlan) Miller and Rosemary (Kerry) McDaniel; 22 nieces; 17 nephews; and special friends, Leonard (Doc) Ranson, Stephanie Robertson, Raven Blackwell and Tammy Rutheford.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Royal, Vernon and Raymond Iiams; sisters, Mary Kalianoff, Luellen Christensen and Doris Waddell; and a niece, Linda Reynolds.
Russell was born March 27, 1941, in Peru, Iowa, the son of Henry and Alice (Muck) Iiams. On May 9, 1964, in Peru, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Nanci Johnson. Russell was the owner of Mid-Western Exterminating Company for 38 years.
Russell’s special interests included his family, church, coaching his children and others through the YMCA and attending his children and grandchildren’s school and sporting events. Other joys were gardening, dancing, hunting, fishing, time at the boat dock and mostly his “beautiful wife”

A memorial fund has been established in Russell’s name.
