Russell John Colwell, 43, of 1631 11th Street NW, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska, died Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, following complications of a stroke. Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Deacon Jim Berger. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie; two sons, Troy and Quinn, both at home; his parents, Robert Colwell of Monroe, Louisiana, and Carolyn Haines of Carter Lake, Iowa; and two brothers, James of Omaha and Jeffery of Carter Lake.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Virginia Kohute.
Russell was born November 28, 1965, the son of Robert and Carolyn (Haines) Colwell, in Omaha, Nebraska. A graduate from Gateway Electronics in Omaha, he served in the United States Army. For the past 11 years, he has worked for 2nd Story Software, Inc.
