Russel “Russ” L. Bergeson, 60, of Manchester, died Friday, September 18, 2015. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Bohnenkamp Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, officiated by Andrew Lange. Family will greet friends from 3 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the funeral home.
Russ was born January 20, 1955, in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Russel and Elma (Davis) Bergeson. Russ attended Estherville High School. He married Rebecca Greene and they had three children. They later divorced. Russ served in the United States Army from 1975-1981. On September 12, 2014, Russ married Mary Kay Collmann in Manchester, Iowa. He worked in the telephone business for over 26 years, most recently with Windstream Corporation. Russ enjoyed hunting, boating, and camping, and was a past member of Pheasants Forever. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spent many weekends in friendly competition with Mary Kay, an avid Green Bay Packers and Iowa State fan. He loved spending time with family, friends, and especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kay Bergeson of Manchester; children, Bradley (Michelle) Bergeson of Vinton, Sarah Bergeson of Hawaii, Emily (Bill Studt) Bergeson of Lisbon; granddaughters, Amayah , Addison, and Annabelle; and step-son, Zack Collmann of Manchester; sisters, Pat (Ed) Harrold of Lakefield, MN, Rose (Bill) Bass of Sheldon, Sandy (Mark) Triggs of Estherville, Bev Behr of Trimont, MN, Cheryl (Jim) Bush of Peterson, brother, Larry (Franny) Bergeson of Esterville; step-sisters, Joan Knapp,of Malibu, CA, Lorene Roberts of Chandler, AZ; step-brother, Jerry (Judy) Bergeson, Ocean Park, WA; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Susie Luensmann of Delhi; sisters-in-law, Ann (Bill) Davidshofer of Lisbon, Marsha (Leif) Wiltscheck of St. Michael, MN; and brother-in-law, Kevin (Elaine) Luensmann of Altoona, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Larry Romer; nieces, Jessica Bush, Tina Triggs, Cindy Wallace; great niece, Kloe Nath; and his beloved yellow lab, Sasha.
Russ gave the gift of life through tissue donation.
