Rudolph "Rudy? W. Nelson, 82, of 1307 Berry?s Run, died Friday, October 8, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Springville United Methodist Church by Rev. John Keizer. Friends may call Monday, October 11, 2004, from 4-8 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a Masonic Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Graveside Services: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2004, at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Survivors include his wife, Millie of Marion; a brother, Torleif Nelson of Mesa, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and a brother.

Rudy was born August 16, 1922, the son of Martin and Gunvar (Ulleberg) Nelson in Milaca, Minnesota. On December 21, 1946, he married Mildred Moechnig in Minneapolis. He served with the Army-Air Force during WWII. Rudy worked for Rockwell Collins as an electrical engineer for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Springville United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees, Masonic Lodge No. 139 of Springville, Scottish Rite, El Kahir Shrine, Order of the Eastern Star of Marion Chapter 183 and the 8th Air Force Historical Society.
