Ruby Mae Mead, 82, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, November 1, 2007, at the care center following a short illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2007, at Northbrook Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Eric Schumacher. The family will greet friends from 2 ?" 5 p.m., Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, where Father Neil Manternach will lead a Vigil Service beginning at 4:30 p.m. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Survivors include her daughter, Loma (Martin) Cutter of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Andrew (Cintia) Cutter of Coralville, Sarah (Mike) Zybarth of Des Moines, Gretchen (Cory) Handfelt of Cedar Rapids, and Rachael Cutter of Des Moines, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Griffin & Sienna Handfelt of Cedar Rapids.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter, Lucinda (Mead) Wheeler, and 10 siblings.

Ruby was born August 12, 1925, the daughter of Ira V. Snowberger and Bessie M. Snowberger, in Liberty Mills, Indiana. She grew up in Wabash, Indiana and attended Purdue University. Ruby was united in marriage on June 9, 1949, to Lowell Wayne Mead. Ruby and her husband were co-owners of Mead’s Pharmacy and The Mart in Westville, Indiana. Lowell died February 12, 1993. She was a member of Northbrook Baptist Church and was a member of the Care Review Board at Northbrook Manor.
