Ruby C. Klopp, 90, of Davenport, formerly of rural Walker, died Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Home in Davenport. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Pastor Kenneth Graham. Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013, at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include her children, Calvin (Joyce) Klopp of Davenport, Marlene Myers of Marion, and Joanne (Larry) DeLong of Scottsdale, AZ; nine grandchildren, Diana (Jeff) Fassett, Dawn (Judd) Zulgad, Jana (David) Bennett, Leisa (Brian) Osterhaus, Kurt Myers, Jeffrey DeLong, Jennifer (Todd) Gardewine, Daniel (Narelle) Klopp, and Kraig (Nadine) Myers; and ten great-grandchildren, Madysen, Levi, Benjamin, Emily, and Avery Gardewine, Jordynn and Maya Osterhaus, Eva and Emmanuel Klopp, and Cora Bennett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orbra and Olive (Martin) Kent; husband, Orlan; grandchildren, Kristin and Joel Klopp; daughter-in-law, Ann Klopp; son-in-law, Albert Myers; sister, Opal Duffield; and brother, Melvin Kent.
Ruby was born September 4, 1923, on the family farm on Martins Creek Road in rural Marion. She was a 1941 graduate of Marion High School. Ruby married Orlan Klopp on June 19, 1941, in Marion. She was a 4-H Leader, involved in Garden Club, Homemakers Club, and Card Club. Ruby was an avid bowler and enjoyed crafts. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Center Point, and Christ Community Church in Marion. Ruby was very active in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always had an open door and a listening ear.
