Ruby L. Ashlock, 92, a resident of Lutheran Home for the Aged in Vinton, formerly of Center Point, died Saturday, December 29, 2007, at the home, from complications of Alzheimer’s. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at the Urbana Christian Church, by the Rev. John Caughron. The family will greet friends from 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point,

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Bach of Cedar Rapids, Kaye (Dave) Ternus of Vinton, Peggy Ashlock of Cedar Rapids and Betty (Charlie) Stone of Shellsburg; 13 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Fett of Center Point; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett; two brothers, Jerry and Bob Ferguson; a granddaughter, Andrea Bach; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Cooper; and a great-grandson, Steven Curtis.

Ruby was born January 18, 1915, the daughter of Clarence and Sylvia Ferguson, in Benton County, Iowa. On June 28, 1970, she married Everett LeRoy Ashlock in Urbana, Iowa. He died January 30, 2000. Ruby worked for Younkers Department Store, retiring in 1975. Prior to working at Younkers, she was a cook for the Urbana School and also owned and helped operate Urbana Plumbing and Heating.
Ruby was a member of the Birthday Club, Helping Hand Club, Card Club and a longtime member of the Urbana Christian Church.
