Rubie J. Pillard, 84, of Keystone Cedars, formerly of Coggon, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at her residence following a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2007, at Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon, with Rev. Kurt Walker officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Burial: Coggon Cemetery. Arrangements are with Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City.

Survivors include a son, Larry (Debbie) Pillard of Custer, South Dakota; a daughter, Linda Chambers of Cedar Rapids; four siblings, Eddie (Helen) Anderson of Toddville, Andy (Darlene) Anderson of Kansas, Cecil (Jean) Anderson of Marion and Joyce Hauser of Kansas; eight grandchildren, Candace (Matt) Pillard, Brittany Pillard, Kendra (Scott) Herdliska, Corey Wright, Jamie (Chris) Robinson, Michael (Melissa) Chambers, Anthony (Krissy) Chambers and Derek Chambers; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; two brothers, Raymond Anderson and John Anderson; two sisters, Mary Cejka and Pearl Brown; a granddaughter, Destiny Wright; and a great-grandchild, Mitchell.

Rubie was born December 3, 1923, the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Kershner) Anderson in Central City, Iowa. She was united in marriage to George Pillard on December 3, 1941, in Manchester, Iowa. George died January 13, 1995. Rubie was a former nurse’s aide at St. Luke’s Hospital and homemaker. She was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church.

Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in memory of Rubie.
