Roy was born December 12, 1938, the son of Allen and Eileen (Nietert) Wright, near Central City, Iowa. He was a graduate of Coggon High School. Roy married Karen Boyse, his high school sweetheart, on September 10, 1960 at Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon. He spent many years painting and decorating. He then worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier and was known as a fun-loving prankster. Some of Roy’s passions were dancing with Karen, fishing, mushroom hunting, motorcycling, trailriding, and spending time in his timber. Roy accepted Christ as his personal Savior on April 26, 1982 and was later baptized at the Walker Bible Church, which was Roy and Karen’s home church. He was a member of the “Good Ole Boys Coggon Coffee Club,” the NRA, and the Honda Gold Wing Association. Roy was a very special man who touched many lives in many different ways. He was a loving person and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in Roy’s name.
