Roy Quaas, 92, of Alburnett, died Monday, May 4, 2015. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, at Alburnett United Methodist Church by Rev. Jon Moss. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett.
Survivors include his children, Richard Quaas of Ithaca, New York, Max (Linda) Quaas of Decorah, and Mary (Tommy) Moore of Alburnett; 4 grandchildren, Joshua (Claudia) Quaas, Justin (Pasha) Quaas, Jennifer (Jason) Johnson, and Jill (Terry) Logston; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Jean Quaas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Genevieve; two sisters; and a brother.
Roy was born November 1, 1922, the son of Walter and Pearl (Karch) Quaas in Alburnett. On December 8, 1943, he married Genevieve Koch at Brookfield Farm in Linn County. She died March 27, 2010. Roy served with the U.S. Army. He took great pride in his farm. Roy volunteered as a 4-H leader. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed attending all of their activities.
Memorials may be directed to the Alburnett United Methodist Church in memory of Roy.
