Rosemary K. (Hildebrand) Cairy, 73, of Alburnett, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, surrounded by her family in her home, after losing a long battle with multiple sclerosis. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Central City, by Father Wayne Droessler. Family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Rose was born September 16, 1937, in Earlville, Iowa, the daughter of Anthony and Clarabelle (Miller) Hildebrand. She worked at a hospital and bakery in Manchester, Iowa, before moving to San Diego, California, where she worked at a candy factory. On Decmeber 25, 1954, Rose and Stan Cairy were married at the U.S. Naval Hospital Chapel in San Diego. After their marriage, Stan and Rose lived in San Diego, Long Beach, Seattle, Washington, and Jacksonville, Florida, before returning to Iowa to stay.
Rose is survived by her sons, James of Troy Mills, Doug (Sue) of Anamosa, Brian (Kari) of Marion; daughters, Patricia Bartels (Scott) of Roberts, IL, and Nancy (Mike) Wieland of Alburnett; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Martha Barritt;; and 2 brothers, Paul Hildebrand and Andy Hildebrand.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Stan; her parents; 3 brothers; a sister; and a loving grandson, Jason Limkemann.
