Rosemary Joan Rockhill, 84, of Center Point, Iowa, died Saturday, October 22, 2016, at her home. Per Rosemary’s request there will be no services. Her remains have been donated to the University of Iowa. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point, at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; her children, Julie (Mark) Ward of Runnells, Iowa, Janet (Randy) Schminkey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Joanne (Jeff) Jess of Urbana, Iowa; her grandchildren, Austin, Brandon and Cole Jess; brother, Joseph Foitle of Overland Park, Kansas; and sister, Virginia Foitle of San Antonio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Robert and Gene.
Rosemary was born May 14, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Thomas) Foitle, in Marshalltown, Iowa. On October 12, 1956, she was united in marriage to Richard Rockhill in Marshalltown. Rosemary worked for Miller Jr. High School in the cafeteria in Marshalltown, was activities Director at Noelridge Manor for 11 years in Cedar Rapids, and worked for Benion Nursing Home and Rosemarys’ Refashions, both in Center Point.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshalltown and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker.
Rosemary enjoyed music, walking, coffee at O’Briens and especially spending time with her grandsons. She loved the holidays, taking pictures, and keeping traditions of old and making new ones. Rosemary was known for her quick wit, positive thinking and always being there for her family and friends.
Rosemary’s request instead of memorials is to pay forward a single daisy to a friend in her honor and of family and friendships.
