Rose M. (Philipp) Sage, 93, of Monticello, Iowa, long time Cedar Rapids resident, died Sunday, November 11, 2007, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from pneumonia. Services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 15, 2007, at All Saints Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Gerald Condon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. A scripture and rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Connie (Phil) Gerdes of Monticello, Iowa, Beverly (Dwight) Howard of Cedar Rapids and Sue (Jeff) Welp of Fallbrook, California; grandchildren, Tricia Lambert, David J. Howard, Justin P. Gerdes and Rebecca S. Howard; five great grandchildren, Madison Lambert, Luke Lambert, Jack Lambert, Gavin Gerdes and Griffin Gerdes; step-grandchildren, Jessica Welp, Melissa Woodyard and Dan Welp; step-great grandchildren, Westin Woodyard, Jaxson Woodyard, Tate Woodyard, and Landon Welp; and sisters, Florence Buresh of Cedar Rapids and Theresa Burns of Las Vegas, Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; son, John “Butch” Daniel Sage, Jr., sisters, Mary Michalec, Anna Neff, Martha Carter, and Ruth Fulmer; and brothers, Clement Philipp and Fred Philipp.
Rose was born November 6, 1914, in Atchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Alvin and Barbara (Knapp) Philipp. On March 3, 1943, she married John Sage in San Francisco, California. He died in 2004.
Rose was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.
