Rose Marie McMillen, 80, of Walker,Iowa, died Monday, September 28, 2015, at her home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2015, at Walker United Methodist Church, Walker, Iowa, by Pastor Mark Morehouse. Visitation: 4-8 p.m, Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the Walker United Methodist Church. Burial: Walker Cemetery, Walker, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
Survivors include her children, Kelly McMillen and Julie (Shane) Fuessley, of Walker; Aunt Karen Klinghammer, of Marion; grandchildren, Aprill (Steve) Graham, Noah McMillen, Miranda Fuessley, and Jordan Fuessley; seven great-grandchildren; cousin, Floyd Ondler, of Cedar Rapids; and her special cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick; and brother, Walter.
Rose was born on July 16, 1935, in Walker, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Bessie (Pavlis) Valenta. She graduated from Coe College in 1957 and went on to teach music at East Buchanan and North Linn Schools. Rose married Kenneth Richard “Dick” McMillen, August 3, 1957, in Walker, Iowa. Rose enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and a long term member and pianist at the Walker United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Rose’s memory.
