Rose Ann Eaton Profile Photo
Rose Ann (Henry) Eaton, age 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Friday, August 8, 2014, at the University Of Iowa Hospital after suffering a major stroke.

Rose was born October 8, 1929, in Waukon, Iowa, to George and Olive Anna (Wagner) Henry. On October 8, 1950, at the age of twenty-one, Rosie married Robert Eaton in Cedar Rapids, where they lived and raised their three children. Rose was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and loved to research family history for genealogy. In her working days, she spent thirty years as a brazier for SquareD Company and made many friends wherever she went. Her complete zest for life overflowed into her political activism and is one of the reasons she was able to serve as one of Iowa’s delegates to the Republican National Convention. Rose was fiercely loyal to family and would give service wherever needed. She is, and will always be, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her ready smile and twinkling eyes will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Primary visitation will take place on Friday, August 15, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center at 3855 Katz Drive, Marion, Iowa, from 5:00-7:00 pm. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 16, 2014, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 4300 Trailridge Road SE, Cedar Rapids with a short visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Burial at Campbell Cemetery, Bertram, Iowa, will follow the service.

Rose is survived by Robert, her loving husband of 63 years; three children, Terry (Susie) Eaton and Thomas Eaton of Cedar Rapids, and Susan (Neil) Gilbert of Mount Vernon, Iowa; a sister, Norma (David) Snow of Cedar Rapids; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Olive; sisters, Kate Merta, and Marjorie Henry; and daughter-in-law, Pam (Thomas) Eaton.

The family is grateful to the members of the Cedar Rapids 1st Ward and all of those who have expressed condolences to the family at this time of mourning. Rose will live forever through our memories and our love.
