Rosaleen "Rose" Susan Turley

Rosaleen “Rose” Susan Turley, 86, of Marion, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. The family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2018, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Reverend Dennis Juhl. Cremation will follow Mass on Friday. A Committal Service will be held at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo.
Rose was born January 15, 1932, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of William and Frances (Kleitsch) Sand. She graduated from Mt. Mercy School of Nursing and worked most of her life as a registered nurse, retiring from John Deere. On August 12, 1953, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence, Rose was united in marriage to Joseph C. Turley. She was a member St. Pius X Catholic Church and a lifelong member of Catholic Daughters of America. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia Davis of Minneapolis, Minnesota, James Turley of Kansas City, Missouri, Julia (Kirk) Watson of Cedar Rapids, and Karen (Doug) Stulken of Walford; six grandchildren, Patrick (Heather) Davis, Jennifer (David) Bartels, Abby Watson, Kaylee Watson, Ashley Stulken and Ryan Stulken; three great-grandchildren, Hannah and Haley Davis and Dean Bartels; and two brothers, Leo Sand of Independence and Lavern Sand of Brandon.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Turley; son, Brother Joshua Turley, O.S.B.; two sisters, Delores Amfahr and Wilma Buckingham; son-in-law, Christopher Davis; and daughter-in-law, Kathy (Rupiper) Turley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rose’s memory may be directed to Hospice of Mercy.
