Ronald Martin Timmerman, 61, of Evansdale, Iowa, formerly of Manchester, died Tuesday, December 17, 2002, in Parkveiw Nursing Home in Waterloo, following a long illness. His cremains will be scattered in California at a later date.

Ron was born September 13, 1941, in Benton County, Iowa to Everett and Vivian (Parker) Timmerman. Ron was united in marriage to Sonna Deiss for seventeen years, together they had four children. In 1959 Ron entered the United States Navy in San Francisco, California. While in active duty he served as a yeoman on the USS Yorktown. After his discharge in 1963, he attended Ceritos College in Southern California. Ron worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, California as a production control manager over three divisions and served as a union steward. In 1977 Ron worked for Peabody Floway Pump Company in Fresno, California. After returning to Iowa he went to work for IBP in Waterloo and later for the John Deere Tractor Works.

Ron was a foster parent, a leader for the "Indian Guide? Boys Club and also coached a soccer team. He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed woodworking, also boating, hunting, fishing and motorcycle riding.

Survivors include his mother, Vivian Cornwell of Manchester; two sons, Steven Timmerman of Clovis, California and Daniel Martinez of Kingford Heights, Indiana; two daughters Roxanne Vick of Clovis, California and Sheila Timmerman of Fresno, California; one brother Robert Timmerman of Manchester; three sisters, Charlene Beatty of Shellsburg, Iowa, Shirley Cole of Strawberry Point and Donna Fierstine of Manchester, Iowa; and five grandchildren, Bryant Vick, Justin Oliver, Jacob Mercer and Amanda and Amy Martinez.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Everett Timmerman; his sister Diane Rinker; and his infant brother Raymond Timmerman.

A memorial fund has been established.
