Ronald Joseph Shada, 72, of Walker, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 22, 2013. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Urbana, by Father Ardel Barta. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, with a vigil service beginning at 7:00 p.m. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Valyda; his children, Ronda (Bruce) Huckins of Maynard, Tamara (Bob) Huckins of Walker, David (Deanna) Shada of Walker, and Sharon (Michael) Lucas of Central City; one brother Gerald (Martha) Shada of Center Point; fifteen grandchildren, Stephanie Gordon, Kelly Lucas, Matthew (Allison) Kubik, Jacob (Cassandra) Kubik, Tyler Kubik, Michaela Lucas, James Lucas, Casey, Travis, and Chloe Huckins, Mallory and Dalton Shada, Ronald (Abby) Huckins, Amber and Joshua Huckins; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a nephew.
Ronald was born January 2nd, 1941, in Chatfield, Minnesota, the son of Joseph and Clara (Philips) Shada. He graduated from Austin High School. On July 30th, 1960, he was united in marriage to Valyda Goodew, in Austin, Minnesota. He worked as a Plastics Press Operator at Rockwell Collins for over 37 years. Ronald played guitar and sang in many country bands. He enjoyed woodworking and socializing with his friends at local restaurants.
