Ronald L. Doyl, 69, of Walker, Iowa, died suddenly Thursday, September 23, 2010, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 27, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, Walker, by the Rev. Norman Kelley. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, September 26, 2010, at the church. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; children, Darsi (Derek) Brown of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Doug (Kris) Doyl of Walker; grandchildren, Alexandra, Hannah and Paige Doyl and Dara and Doyl Brown; brother, Roger (Lois) Doyl of Walker; brother-in-law, Rex (Judi) McCright of Omaha, Nebraska; and nieces and nephews.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond Doyl; and parents-in-law, H.W. “Dutch” and Agatha McCright and Margaret McCright.
Born February 19, 1941, in Independence, Iowa, Ronnie was the son of Ted and Lucille (Peyton) Doyl. He graduated from Troy Mills High School in 1959. On November 25, 1962, he was united in marriage to Judy McCright in the United Methodist Church in Walker. Ronnie served in the National Guard. He owned The McCright Agency, specializing in insurance and tax services, which he bought from his father-in-law.
Ronnie was an active member of the Walker United Methodist Church, the Lions Club of Walker where he was the secretary for 20 years, Masonic Mecca Lodge, the El Kahir Shrine and the Scottish Rite.
Ronnie’s joys were attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, being a reader at North Linn Elementary, announcing at North Linn softball games, woodworking, fishing, hunting and golfing at the Buffalo Creek County Club in Winthrop. He was a jokester with a great sense of humor and a pillar of the Walker community. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in Ronnie’s memory.
