Ronald "Ronnie" Carson

Ronald "Ronnie" Carson, 57, of Swisher, died as result of a tragic motorcycle accident in North Liberty, Iowa, on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4-8 pm Friday, November 14, at the funeral home. Burial: Blain Cemetery, Swisher, Iowa.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Jane Ann (Wright) Carson; son, Billy (Wendee) Carson; grandchildren, Jacob Henry and Alissa Zimmermann; his parents, Robert and Janice Carson of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Mike (Christa), Mark (Julie), Joni, Tim (Lisa) Carson; in-laws, Pam (Pete) Stanfiel; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his dogs, Buddy and Josie.
He was preceded in death by his biological father, Ron Parsons; daughter, Andrea Zimmermann; brothers, Michael Robert and Danny (Jane) Carson; grandparents, Fred ("Mombo") and Emma Petrick, Floyd and Marietta Parsons, Emil and Margaret Carson and John Morgan Elliott; and in-laws, Richard and Billie Wright.
Ronnie was born on June 19, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On June 23, 1979, he and Jane were married and began their adventurous life together. He worked as an ironworker and was a proud member of Ironworkers Local #89. In 1979, Ronnie was proud to be involved in setting the last piece of Carver Hawkeye Arena and many other jobs in the area. He worked at Galt Sand/Starter Galt in the screen printing business in maintenance and then in the safety department of TrueNorth Company as a safety consultant. Ronnie began his own business as Carson's Consulting Services as a risk and safety consultant and loved working with many on a personal basis.
While Ronnie and Jane had a ton of fun with family and friends, there was nothing Ronnie looked forward to more than spending time with his grandkids. He made the most out of hanging out any day of the week, whether it was giving rides on the quad or enjoying special moments of quiet solitude reading books. Nothing could match those times. Every year, a week was set aside to enjoy a fun vacation together.
Ronnie loved and enjoyed all kinds of music in his daily life. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye wrestling fan, pure black and gold. He helped coach Prairie Little Hawk wrestling and gave advice to anyone who interacted with the sport over the years. Ronnie and Jane were fans of the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders and were a host family for one of the hockey players. He was also a die- hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Ronnie loved being active outdoors, whether it was out in his timber with his dogs or bonding with others while splitting wood. He enjoyed Harley rides with family and friends. Above all, Ronnie was there for anyone who needed guidance or help in troubled times.
He will be missed dearly by the love of his life, his wife, Jane, Billy, and by Jacob, Alissa, family, Union brothers and sisters, friends and everyone else who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In honor of his father's heart transplant history of 15 years, he was able to fulfill a life-time goal of being an organ donor.
