Ronald Earl Woellert, 72, of Manchester, died Monday, January 21, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a lengthy illness.
A prayer service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Burial will be at a later date.
Ron was born June 19, 1935 in Delaware, the son of Fred G. and Martha H. (Moser) Woellert. On May 18, 1968 Ron was united in marriage to Leona Jean Bachman in Lamont. Ron served in the United States Navy from 1955-1959 and then was a member of the National Guard. He was a salesman and drove truck for Pepsi Cola Bottling Co., worked as a farm hand, did odd jobs and drove bus for West Delaware Schools. Ron enjoyed mechanical tinkering, singing in the choir, painting, drawing and playing his guitar.
Ron is survived by his wife, Leona of Manchester; two children, Ricky Allen (Rhonda) Woellert of Independence and Julie (Paul) Graham of Manchester; six grandchildren; siblings, Wilma Kelley of Independence, Bernice Wendt of Strawberry Point, Eugene (Darlene) Woellert of Cedar Rapids and Maynard (Janet) Woellert of Manchester; and his in-laws, Mardell (Alfred) Trumblee of Cedar Rapids, Lori (Leo) Weiser of Manchester, Howard Jr. (Karen) Bachman of Lamont and Ronnie (Nancy) Bachman of Manchester.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Martha Woellert; and a brother, Harold Woellert.
