Ronald James "Ron" Maxa (Maxa)

Ronald James Maxa, 65, of Fairfax, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Saturday, July 14, 2012, in his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at John XXIII Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Father Dustin Vu. Family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where there will be a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Burial at St Patrick’s Cemetery in Fairfax following the funeral service. Military honors will be provided by the Fairfax American Legion Post # 572.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; children, Melissa (Travis) Otto of Fairfax, Renee (Todd) Boehler of Cedar Rapids, Ronald Maxa Jr. of Cedar Rapids and Rory Maxa (Amy Shaw) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Olivia and Carson Otto, Aiden and Kylee Boehler, Sydney, Madisen, Hunter Maxa and their mother, Angie Spoden; sisters, Jeanette Standfield and Diane Kahl both of Minnesota; brothers, Roger and Robert Stenvick of Minnesota; and many family and friends that he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Arnie Maxa.
Ron was born February 28, 1947, son of Daniel and Adeline (Pavek) Maxa. He retired from the United States Army after serving from 1967-1993. On April 11, 1970 he was united in marriage to Linda Stippel, in Zweibrucken, Germany. Ron enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cards, puzzles and spending time with family and friends, and especially his grandkids.
