Ronald Richardson, 71, of 1146 20th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, went to be with our Lord, Saturday, August 9, 2008, in his home, of brain cancer. Celebration of Life: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Edgewood Family Fellowship Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Craig Bex. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at the church. Arrangements are with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Arlene; his children, Ronda Smith of Marion, Raymond (Corinne) Richardson of Atkins, Kathy (Steve) Klaaren of Ladora, Michael Richardson and Lori Richardson, both of Cedar Rapids; 18 grandchildren, Matthew & Janae, Jessica and Brittany (Smith), Wesley, Tyler & Amanda, Rachel, Megan, and Nathan (Richardson), Joshua, Robin, and David (Klaaren), Asia, Hallie, and Madison (Richardson), Ashley, Jacob, Zachary and Nicholas (Butler); one great-grandchild, Shannon Marie; his siblings, Robert (Candy) Richardson, Anne Richardson, Kenneth (Christi) Richardson, Judy (Wayne) Spearman, Katy (Ron) Vasquez, Cheryl Gicoff and Margie(Ron) Blair; and his mother-in-law, Berdena Reeves.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Richard, Thomas and Phillip Richardson.
Ronald was born September 4, 1936, in Fort Des Moines, Iowa to Kenneth Richardson and Levina Hollman. He was raised by Levina and John Hollman. Ronald had served in the Iowa National Guard. On February 25, 1956, he was united in marriage to Arlene Reeves in Des Moines, Iowa. Ronald worked at ADM for 25 years, retiring in 1999.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Ronald.
