Ronald W. Rawson

Ronald W. Rawson, 93, a resident of Meth-Wick Community, died there, Saturday, March 13, 2004, following a short illness. As per Ron?s request, there will be no visitation or services. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his son, Gary (Karen) Rawson of Pine, Arizona; and a grandson, Eric Rawson of Vermillion, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Gertrude.
Ron was born July 20, 1910, the son of Don and Carmen (Huff) Rawson, in Kalona, Iowa. He graduated from Grant High School in Cedar Rapids. On May 13, 1933, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Rieke in Cedar Rapids. She died October 29, 1999. Ron worked in the claims department at Mutual Fire & Automobile Insurance Company in Cedar Rapids for 27 years. He held membership with the Lion?s Club, Mt. Herman Masonic Lodge, Cedar Rapids Consistory and was a 50-year member of the El Kahir Shrine. Ron was a musician who was actively involved with the El Kahir Chanters. He also was a retired member of the Mens Golf Association and the Iowa Seniors Golf Association.
