Ronald H. “Pete” Petersen, 77, of 1305 F Ave., died Monday, December 31, 2007, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion, following a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion by Father Greg Bahl. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a parish vigil service will begin at 4:30 and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou of Marion; son, Paul (Renee) Petersen of Davenport; a brother, Richard (Marjorie) Petersen of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Carol Massey of Tucson, Arizona; three grandchildren, Bradley (fiancée Krystal), Sarah, and Alyssa Petersen, all of Davenport; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ronald was born July 12, 1930, the son of Henry and Lillian (Aufderhar) Petersen in Princeton, Minnesota. He served with the U.S. Air Force in the Asian Theatre. On November 7, 1959, he married Mary Lou Maus in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He worked at Rockwell Collins as an Electronics Technician for thirty-two years, retiring in 1990.
Ronald was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #5390 where he had served as past Grand Knight. He was also honored by the State of Iowa Knights of Columbus as “Knight of the Year”.
