Rev. Ronald A. Lewis, 58, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at his home. Celebration of Life: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Dr. Katie Hopper, with military honors. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Monday, November 28 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Susan; two daughters, Amy (Scott) Shoemaker of Omaha, and Lisa (Rob) Dean of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Joey, Elizabeth, Grace, Noah, Aaron, and a greatly anticipated grandson, Lucas, due in December; four sisters, Deanna (John) Sammons, Elsie (Frank) Larkin, Frances (Frank) Perkins, and Sadie (Marlin) Halsey, all of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron was born March 23, 1953, the son of Ashby and Sue (Merriman) Lewis, in Portsmouth, Virginia. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. On August 17, 1974, Ron was united in marriage to Susan Christiansen in Fonda, Iowa. He had proudly pastored at Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon and Christ Church Presbyterian in Cedar Rapids, until his retirement in November 2010. Ron enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of American Legion Post #727 of Cedar Rapids, and was an active member of the Synod of Lakes and Prairies and Presbytery of East Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ron’s memory.
